Not many midcentury mugs were actually made in the USA; this one was made by Riddell Pottery of California in 1951.

Superb craftsmanship with lots of texture, hand painted accents, and six colors I think. They even added blue shading on the white. And just look at the handle, handmade indeed. It’s also noteworthy how substantial this mug is—weighing almost twice what must mugs from that era weigh.

There is one small chip on the rim.

Riddell 1951 is inscribed into the ceramic on the bottom.
